Khalid Abdul-Mumin Dark and morbid but kinda rings true in a gravitational lensing sort of logic.

Debbie Y I hope you’re absolutely loving it, Adrienne. It became one of my favorite nonfiction books. Can’t wait to read your final thoughts!

Khalid Abdul-Mumin @Debbie
I think I might have to reread it then. Fresher perspective might help me get more out of it because I thought it was going to be a winner for me although it was worth a four star rating.

I think it would be great. I actually read it twice myself. If you haven’t already, you might wanna check The Last Messiah by Zapffe. Helps you get a better idea of Ligotti’s perspective, and it’s short. Not a Schopenhauer length :) you can even read it online on openairphilosophy. Org (GR won’t let me add a link).

Thank you, Debbie! It was your wonderful review that convinced me to finally pick up a copy, though it had been on my radar for a while (I admit, True Detective put it there initially 😄).

I'd like to hear your thoughts on it as well, Khalid. It's actually proving to be more accessible than I expected with a touch of (very dark) humor that I did not expect at all.

I can 100% understand the appeal as season one to me is one of the best things I’ve ever seen on TV. A masterpiece. Rust Cohle is my spirit animal! :) They definitely drew a lot from the book and the philosophers mentioned there.

Khalid Abdul-Mumin Oh my, never even bothered to watch a trailer of it. I'll definitely try and watch the show then.

Rust Cohle is one of my favorite television characters ever, right up there with Dale Cooper - although I don't imagine Coop would subscribe to the same philosophy 😄.

You should definitely watch it. Season one was a really rare, exceptionally good series.
