I find chapter like this suuuuuper boring. How long can we wax poetically about hedonism? I want to get to actual STORY again (._.)

The way I’m both relieved and disappointed that James missed his chance to kill Dorian. I hope when he comes back for him it is more poetic or dramatic than a quick shooting in an alley

Minimal pressure and Dorian is leaking like a faucet, he is NOT getting away with this murder for long

“Your life? Good heavens! What a life that is! You have gone from corruption to corruption, and now you have culminated in crime. And doing what I’m going to do – you forced me to do – it is not of your life that I am thinking.”
I appreciate Alan taking the time every paragraph to let Dorian know he doesn’t care about him AT ALL

“The thing was still seated in the chair”
It’s wild how quickly Dorian has changed his view of Basil to that of an object rather than a person. The second he angered him, Dorian kills him and made him some sort of ‘other’ in his mind, since his hedonism has led to him living for pleasure and pleasure alone

Chapter 11 is the lamest chapter of the book. That’s all I have to say about that.

Finally the point: Dorian occupies his time with deep dives into finery and the arts to distract himself from the portrait upstairs that is getting uglier and more vile. He is fascinated by how it shifts so he often will visit the portrait, but also so anxious about it he tries to think about anything else at all times. Got it.
