I read it about 20 years ago and don't remember a ton about it. The City and The City was the last one of his I read, I think.

that one is excellent (i mean, IMO he hasn't written a bad book) but kraken is my fave of his, it's funnier than his usual fare and is exactly as fucked up and weird as i want urban fantasy to be. :)

I read Kraken when it came out and the main thing I remember is a line something like "Are you entering the shit title Olympics?" or something to that effect.

LOL yeah, his dialogue is quite snappy in it, Wati and Collingswood especially bring a really important note of comic relief, I think. man this is making me want to reread it. :)

Since we're best friends now, I might reread Kraken this year.
