The image of his dog snuggled up with Ruth's cat right at the end was really sad as they deserved so so much more! Even when they got a second chance (which he didn't think they would) it ends even worse for them. I really think it is obvious how much I adore Spooks and Harry and Ruth in particular so this read was just so perfect and feeding my obsession. I can't wait to read more of the Spooks books!

I love them so so much! Can you literally tell I am obsessed. I also think the whole rampage he went on to save Catherine at the end and the destruction he caused felt like an outlet for the anger he had about losing Ruth. I am glad he had a somewhat happy ending with his daughter being safe and seeing Jane again. It was still so clear he wanted Ruth to be there too though.

I think it was right for the book to end around the time Ruth left because that really felt like the end of a chapter for him (obviously until it is reopened when she comes back later on). Him admitting that he loves her after she has left was so so devastating! Also the fact she definitely knew but didn't want to have to leave after having him say it and so they left it as 'something wonderful that was never said'

Their slow burn was literally everything. Like their little looks and the addition of them leaving little gifts for each other! The little moments they started having towards the end were so perfect and yet devastating as I knew what was to come. Their date and him being so happy afterwards and hoping she was as well was lovely. Also him being protective over her and wanting to keep her safe was so peak!

All the time Ruth is there it is clear that he liked when she took charge and spoke her mind - I think that's why they always make a good team because she is not afraid to do that and he let's her sit alongside him rather than seeing her as beneath him. They are clearly so similar and she is the only one he takes into his confidence. It was also great when he was jealous of any interest she had in other men.

It was great to be able to picture which episode was being described and get a more focused perspective on certain parts. I also loved seeing how he internally felt about the other characters - like when Adam came and he really liked him (the greatest trio will be anything where it is Harry, Adam and Ruth!). Harry's dry humour also came through in this which made it feel even more like him.

I also loved that he was really just a soppy romantic at heart and was slightly yearning for a woman before Ruth came. As soon as she arrived it was clear that he already liked her and already saw her as an important team member even when she hadn't been there long. The things I would do to get her pov as well!! He seemed proud of her and how far she had come and that was so cute.

The matter of fact way it was written was also so Harry and it was horrible that they died in a car accident because they were late after helping to find his son. It was so clear he blamed himself. I found it interesting how he was more aware of things happening with other characters than it seemed - like Danny really being in love with Zoe under it all.

I loved seeing him grow in his rank and become more important after facing so many hard times. Honestly, even though Archie and Amanda weren't characters in the show, it was devastating when they were killed because they were his first best friends. Also we had seen their romance develop and they had just had a kid who also died.

It was interesting to see how far back him and Juliet go as well and how they always ended up tangled up in the same things. I enjoyed seeing his marriage develop and him have kids yet was not surprised when it all fell apart - I mean it needed to, we had to make room for Ruth!! I also loved seeing all the Spooks characters entering at different points and his opinions of them.
