One could not accuse this novel of having a plot.
I loved, loved, loved the opening, which was all razor wit and social commentary. By the half-way mark, however, the whole thing has devolved into a lot of soppy navel-gazing.

Okay, early days yet, but this is good. Like, really good. Whenever I pick up a "classic," I kind of expect it to be a bit of a slog, but this is so engaging. It's the voice. You can't fake that kind of self-aware-but-doing-it-anyway old school British snobbery.
