Missfit Oooohhh, is that allowed though? Like, doesn’t NetGalley get mad at your account? I always get nervous when I’m close to missing a publish date lol

Anna Makowska It's expected to keep above 80% ratio, but it doesn't matter if the 20% missing are future books or old books. There's no penalty for late reviews, but the books expire in NG app 54 days after download/last refresh, so you either need to send them to kindle app (or device, but I only have android tablet not actual kindle device) or borrow from a library. They don't expire in kindle app but sometimes are formatted weirdly, esp. if they're in pdf not epub originally, and need to be sent before archive date (I just insta send them on approval so I don't forget).

However, that specific publisher might not be happy to keep approving people who took books and didn't review them, because it's not Netgalley staff approving but every publisher on their end. Some publishers don't care though, and some decline very arbitrarily, for example only approve librarian and bookseller accounts or only people with social media following like IG, TT. From fantasy publishers, Orbit is the best, they always approve, even though I've been hit or miss with their books (they do a lot of epic fantasy that's not my vibe).

Anyway, even being below 80% cut off doesn't mean everyone will start declining, I've been in a group where a lot of people are IG influencers and they're all around 50% ratio. But if they have following, I imagine the publishers are more interested in sending them arcs for more publicity opportunities.

Well, I can take 2 more books until I drop below the line or review something and only have 1 pending (Dana Swift, When Dealing With Dragons, I'm a fan since Cast in Firelight), so I can take it slowly and check opening chapters of a few books to see what I'm committing to next.

I have 4 overdue books out of 20-ish, so it's not that bad, just need to catch up with them at some point.

Missfit Ooooh I see now. I didn’t stay long enough to really understand how Netgalley works so I thought they’d get mad or something if you collected ARCs but reviewed them late loool. But 20 books? That’s … a lot (●__●) Good luck, tho! I hope they meet your expectations!

Anna Makowska Well, the upcoming ones span from February to August, not counting the old overdue ones, the oldest one is from July 2025 but it has 9k+ ratings so I don't think they need my review as much as the other 3 overdue ones that are all under 1k.
