I am SO excited about this book. While I wasn’t explicitly raised with purity culture teachings, I can see many places where they affected my upbringing and how many believers around me view sex, chastity, and marriage. As I seek a Biblical perspective on these things while discerning marriage, I’m looking forward to Welcher’s insights as a (hopefully) helpful guide.

Really enjoying the literary perspective Welcher brings.
One of the things that’s struck me the most is the inherent contradictions in purity rhetoric. Are women damsels needing protection or the only ones that can guard their own purity? Are men brave knights or degraded lust monsters?
The damage this ideology did to so many faithful believers is infuriating and heartbreaking. Lord have mercy.
