I did not expect things with Lucy to wrap up so quickly. I was mad at Van Helsing for not killing Lucy when they first discovered she was a vampire, but I see that he did get two more allies involved. I can't tell if making Arthur do it was a kindness to save his love from this fate or terrible for him have those memories of killing her
