I just finished Numbers today. One theme that stood out to me is that God acts for the sake of His Name receiving honor. There are negative and positive examples of this: negative, in His judgment upon Israel after their refusal to enter the Promised Land (Num. 13-14; esp. 14:28-30); positive, in His unseen protection of Israel from the curses of Balaam son of Beor (Num. 23-24; esp. 23:18-24). To Yahweh be the glory!

Today I have finished reading from Torah - the first five books of the Bible, ending with Deuteronomy. The whole book is essentially Moses’ farewell address for the people of Israel, and he foreshadows a prophet to come - one like him - the Messiah (Deut. 18:15-19).
In the meantime, Moses pleads with the people to love, obey, and commit themselves to Yahweh, for this leads to blessed life (Deut. 30:19-20). Amen!

I just finished Leviticus today. I used to find this section of Scripture quite boring, as the narrative of Scripture is for the most part on pause as God informs Moses of various rules for the Israelites. But this time, the Holy Spirit was showing me this common theme: God’s people must approach God and live in God’s presence on God’s terms.
We must be holy because He is holy (Lev. 20:26).

The LORD passed in front of Moses, calling out, “Yahweh! The LORD! The God of compassion and mercy! I am slow to anger and filled with unfailing love and faithfulness.”
- Exodus 34:6 (NLT)
I just finished Exodus today. This passage is the highlight of the book: if I’m not mistaken, it’s the first time Yahweh spends extended time describing Himself. To anyone reading this, know the heart of this God for you!

I’ll be tracking this by percentage rather than by page number, as that can vary. I just finished Genesis today and am also moving on to Exodus today. Remember: though people and the devil can intend evil against you, God can - and, if you follow Jesus, will - work it for His glory and for your good (Gen. 50:20; cf. Rom. 8:28).
