Its almost unbearable to read how evil Heathcliff is, he’s ruined so many lives! But was it really common to be sick with colds for whole seasons in the 1800s? And to be completely bedridden so often as these people are? Servants could for sure not allow themselves that.

Heathcliff is a horrible character, marrying how he abuses Isabella and even his own son. Yes, he was not treated well as a child but he’s paying it forward by ruining peoples lives..

I think I read this in my late teens and don’t remember much of it (I had mixed it up with Jane Eyre in my memory). The book starts with Mr. Lockwood visiting Wuthering Heights and being received rudely. He’s allowed to stay the night through the storm and sleeps in a haunted room belonging to a Catherine. When he comes back, his servant Nelly tells the story of what happened between Catherine and Heathcliff (+)
