I really love Gillin Flynn - most people ramble about Gone Girl and yes the twists it brings in the second half make your fingers hurt turning page to page - but in my mind I loved Dark Places more - the character of Libby resonated with me more - hence now I am starting with Gillian's debut novel! Hoping for a blast with this one like the last one.

I covered a lot of ground today and have got a firm hold of how much I like the story. First of all the coverage of Windgap's pattern around teenage lasciviousness and sexuality, drinking and drugs - speaks to me as if I have lived a very simple life.

Sometimes I intend and tend to ask myself why I read thrillers and murder novels. But then the case is made out by the distorted characters who tend to star in them and bring a wisp of reality of how people are not so perfect.

For the book, I am a little unsure even if the white old lady caught Natalie - how was she able to coerce her into the woods without a pushback was it pure shock?

Normally when you start a story you are given a character sketch of the main character, their background story and you are let to know about their features. But here we start at the get go with the murders and the grim aspect of the teeth being extracted in each case.

I haven't yet learned much about the main character Camille - but have got to know a few of her peculiarities - which are in itself quite uncommon.

One girl dead and one missing - and with the dead one missing all her teeth - leaving aside the baby molar in a town were everyone knew each other and nothing of notice came to pass for ages normally.
