What a brilliant introduction!!
“If Jesus’s claims about his divinity, his miracles, his res-
urrection, and his prophecy were not true, then we have no
grounds to trust anything else he and his followers said or did.
In order to be trustworthy, a moral teacher needs to be trust-
worthy in the fullest sense…”

Oh my, this is going to be good!! I’m fascinated by Dinnis’s treatment of Christianity as a “true fairy tale” of the very best kind—that, just like in fairy tales, we shouldn’t expect to regularly/normally experience the miraculous, but that when it does happen, we should accept it readily and openly, and without doubt or suspicion.

“…By contrast, if Jesus’s claims were true,
then Christianity is infinitely more than a moral system. If Jesus
is God made man, then the Christian faith is more beautiful and
adventurous, more romantic and imaginative than the wildest
human story. It is, as Dinnis concluded, a fairy tale come true.”
