This book is essentially 3 parts, each is focused on a different character. The first is a coke addict that is smuggling drugs. This is handled well and lines up well with King's struggle with drugs.

The second, however, is a black woman that has lost her legs and split personality (referenced as schizophrenia). This runs into problems that King often does when writing about race.

And the Dark Tower really starts moving, moving through this first chunk swiftly
