Started this after finishing the Guilliman book. Chris Wraight is quite a good author, especially by 40k standards. Like the Heresy novels, there are multiple plot lines, but I like & respect that it doesnt jump between characters 20 million times per chapter. Makes each chapter feel more complete. This book is LONG compared to the heresy series, 100 pages in and the main conflict hasn't arisen yet.

This book is way better than As I Lay Dying. Way more explosions and sword fights.

Depending on my mood for the day, I either really like the religious/warp chapters or they bore me. I liked this one though. Nice to see a little more about what motivated chaos to fight the emperor other than "they're the bad guys".

I REALLY liked the way he described the landings on Luna. So vivid. Wraight might be one of the top 3 40k writers OAT.

Really like the description of the Golden Throne. Can't tell if the "black orb" is meant to be the Emperor or not but I'm like 95% sure it is.

I really like how this chapter describes the destruction of the rest of the Sol System.

Read chapter nineteen. I wish we could see more of Luna. I'm surprised it hasn't been given much spotlight in the novels given how important it is. I assume a bunch of background info is thrown into some random Horus Heresy Book.
