Due back at the library tomorrow, it has been a stretch to finish in time but I'm gonna make it. Proud of myself for making the time and exercising the discipline to read a big chunk every day, and grateful for the lull in work which freed me up enough to make it possible.

This is his best novel imo. Filled with heart, optimism, and a love of life.

Yes. Agree. This book stands alone as a work of magic. His stylistic experimentalism gets reined in just enough to give the story exactly what it needs. I think Fierce Invalids is the only other book that comes close. Maybe also Skinny Legs and All., but I haven't re-read that one so I an only be half sure...
A very interesting book this one!
