THEYVE FINALLY LEFT THE PACIFIC ISLANDS!!!!! They’ve made it to the west coast and the area of Nootka Sound known as King George’s sound. The weather is beating them but cook is cool and composed. The variation between indigenous people is fascinating and I’m excited to see how far north they go

James cook is dead……
The natives tendency for theft was the downfall of the expedition and the eventual lead to his death. Despite countless appeals to the authority of the islands. The overwhelming pressure amounted in an explosion of tension between the natives and the sailors.
Interested to see how his death played out

It has stalled slightly regarding the voyage around Australia currently called New Holland. They have just ran into contact with a tribe off the coast of New Zealand preparing themselves for the big stretch up to North America before the winter sets in. Still very intrigued

After regrettably not reading the authors notes an the prologue, I didn’t understand the context the book was written in. After going back I am really intrigued. With this being the personal log of James cook and not the official journal it seems to show a more personal side and emotional side to the famous captain. Understanding his life and his background. I’m excited to see how their voyage plays out
