I feel like Anne is still immature and too complacent with her children. Difference in social expectations of the “ideal” person a child should grow up to be might play a part in this. But when she internally laughed when her daughter got bullied by Mary? Anne thought Rilla was vain and needed a check. Girl is a 6 yo who was dolled up by Susan. If Anne wanted Rilla to be humbled, she should talk to Susan first…

I know Mary is just a young girl but holy shit is she annoying 💀 Anne also grew up without loving parents until green gables but she wasn’t a demon child…but whatev hopefully she gets hit with some consequences soon

Also if Mary is gonna be the main plot driver for this entire book, I really hope she gets some character development bc I do not find her likable at all. I can barely sympathize with her. Maybe I’m just a cold human 🤷🏻♀️ I feel like all of the books after Anne became an adult/had children sort of started to fall off for me because when she was a child, you could excuse anything she did. But as an adult, these are the behaviors and ideas that are going to act as the foundation for her character until the end of time. She seems to have been more hands on with Davy than her own kids. But I digress
