I can tell that this is going to be a sad book. I haven't fallen in love with the characters yet, but I don't doubt that I will. Especially Tom. But maybe Patrick, once the story moves along.

Good writing, but honestly boring to me. I’m not convinced to feel for the characters despite their private thoughts being timeless: thick yearning, desperate delusion, and a hopeful caution.
