Was wondering if “ensh*ttification” was gonna come up, and now, I wonder no more. I have not been a Spotify user for a little bit now, but this book has really solidified my gut instincts on why I am left. Why pay a company monthly to listen to the same three albums I (1) already own and (2) are being offered to me as “new” on “curated” playlists?

I am beginning to take issue with a common practice among authors. They speak in cliches without any sort of attribution. “The stage of capitalism we are in”…meaning, what, exactly?
Spotify sucks because it values its own margins over the support of the artist.
Rich people three hundred years ago could not support every composer who existed, though. This is not a novel problem unique to our Internet age.
