I probably read about ten pages before I got to the footnotes and bibliography, which must have taken at least 60 pages in themselves. The footnotes id already read as I went of course, but the bibliography... pages and pages of fictional books and papers with the occasional note from the fictional writer of the short story I was on, including explaining very odd plots of squid debauchery. Weird fiction indeed.

While technically I only read 14 pages of this today that included 43!!! Footnotes so it's probably closer to double that. I'm getting house of leaves flashbacks.. but it's good. Preferring this story to the first one, which is a history of the founding of the city and written as an academic article, hence the house of leaves similarities.
