Read this as a kid and it put me off reading haha. 20 years later, now a qualified barrister with a lifetime of reading rubbish pleadings, this is well written. But it’s just such an effort. Not for my simple requirements for escapism.

I read this as a child and loved it. But given my more complex and engaging reads lately. This is a somewhat disjointed book. Enjoyable. But unless you’re a hardened fantasy reader it really is just thoughts on a page. That said maybe I’m just not getting his style of writing. Which is most likely it!
