I’m so bummed about all of this. It does persuasion wrong (we care more about new guy) and fake dating wrong (she ends up with old guy). A lot makes sense with the persuasion framework but a lot doesn’t. Was there supposed to be a sequel? Did this start as fanfic but get so removed from source material that knowing about the inspiration makes it more confusing? I have so many questions.

There’s definitely an audience and I’m glad people are hype about the adaptation but definitely don’t shake out the way I had hoped.

I can see exactly why all of the choices were made here. But they were still bad choices. The book barely cracked 3* on Goodreads and I get why. No one is getting what they want because it’s not persuasion but it’s also not not persuasion.

Not sure about the audio. I know Freddie is endgame because Persiasion but even then introducing Brayden first with way more page time is such a romance faux pas.
