⏳Chapter 3 Ongoing ✅ Section on sorting papers. I like the tip on keeping all warranties in the same file and going through all these when checking one so you end up reviewing all existing and potentially identify expired ones for discarding along the way. Also shows that further categorizations isn't always the solution. The lecture materials though, learning theories might have something to say about recall

✅ Chapter 3. My favorite sentence from this chapter and this book so far would be, "Really important things are not that great in number." (p119). With human mortality, it seems wise to find things that are truly worth our while. This is a daunting task in a world that's both wonderful and noisy. Curating and being intentional with life can help. It also takes humility to accept we can only handle so much.

⏳Chapter 3 Ongoing. ✅ Section about Books. Books will probably be among the things I'll have difficulty disposing when I try tidying up next time. By this time, Kondo suggested discarding books that you feel like you might still read later. If you still feel passionate about the topic to the point of buying a new copy, then it's a good indicator that you're really interested in that. This sounds privileged though...

⏳Chapter 3 Ongoing. Done up to the section about clothes. Author is now presenting the recommended specific ways to handle items when tidying up. The respect and regard for the items we own sound animistic, a belief foundational to Japan's Shintoism and is portrayed even in modern films like Studio Ghibli's Spirited Away. The way the tips are written also reminded me of The Book of Five Rings by Miyamoto Musashi

✅ Chapter 2. It has become apparent that the book offers both practical and philosophical insights. I find more benefit in reading it as I do it with focus and introspection. I haven't even started tidying up yet but reading the book has been a mindful and reflective experience.

Chapter 1 done, takeaways: I enjoy testing ideas and will definitely try the methods suggested here. I like the part about decluttering by category and how this gives us a whole and better picture of how much stuff we own. So far, I'm now also wondering if I can apply this to my mobile apps, socmed contacts, and even my circle of friends and colleagues...

Christelle (continued) i.e., having to review/reread/recall learned knowledge to reinforce the pathways in the brain that help retain info long-term. So, people may need to keep some materials a while so they can really review these to facilitate learning
