This is a long book and it is very slow going for me. The theme of Bree’s grief and her journey through is probably the best part of the book. The magical system was very complicated and I feel like the concept of Root was thrown is quickly to remind the reader that there is another perspective of the magical realm. Overall I think the author was trying to say too many things at once.
