Spoiler alert: This author should really have spent more time thinking things through. Unless zombies are hiding all the kitchen knives there is no bloody reason for the characters to be weaponless most of the time. Even if they hid all metal objects they couldn't hide every good stick. And some of the fight sequences play out unrealistically.
