I walked in the village to see the men as I walked in the woods to see the squirrels and birds

A farmer looks at the land as a robber? Interesting

He was determined to know the beans but did not want to eat them? Interesting.

Is Thoreau writing that he spoke to ghosts? Or does he mean this figuratively?

It’s so interesting how so much of this is still relevant today despite it being written so long ago.

“I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately to front only the essential facts of life and see if I could not learn what it had to teach and not when I came to die discover that I had not lived” - love this quote I believe Into the Wild uses it also

This feels like a book I’ll have to reread to fully understand.
