Only a little way in and already loving the narrative voice. Really drawn to how Everett explores the power of language, especially the uncomfortable idea of code-switching for the comfort of the slave owners.

Oh, fab! Which books would you recommend I try after this one?
The audiobook does an incredible job immersing the listener into the language as well. If you are a re-reader I strongly recommend it.

In the event you enjoy humor you'll notice Professor Everett adds himself as character in I Am Not Sidney Poitier which is my personal favorite. "What's your name? Not Sidney. OK then what is it?"
