That was needless and senseless then? There was no larger purpose for that loss? Just man pain and revenge angst inspo? James, I thought you were different my guy. Oof.

Good news! Obiteum is good now! Bad news! My heart hurts! Islington is gonna catch these hands.

If I had a nickel for every time the protagonist was a princeling in exile but still caught up in life or death politics while using an alias and also trying to pass off his giant wolf as if it were a pet dog…I’d have two nickels??? Vis is Fitz if Fitz wasn’t a depressed himbo with a stimulant problem.

Res: figuring out political mine fields trying to stop the concurrence. Luceum: figuring out the culture and language of a new world, training to be a warrior, dealing with Druidic versions of Will. Obiteum: Vis does Strictly Come Dancing with his zombie friend???

The Res and Luceum chapter more than make up for Obiteum lagging so spectacularly. This is easily going to be a five star read overall. I just want to poke Obiteum with a stick and tell it to “do something.”

Would have finished already if everything didn’t screech to a halt in the chapters in Obiteum. I feel like they have spent that whole plot sitting in rooms or walking in tunnels just talking. I’m also disappointed Caeror is not a bigger part of the Obiteum plot. I got catfished. Ahmose is a good dude, but he isn’t Callidus or Eidhen or Caeror or Aequa.

Aequa has snuck up on me. I can’t imagine my life without her. Which means she’s probably not making it out of this series alive.
