contending with wanting to speed through the story to find out what happens next and never wanting it to end

every moment i get i’m grabbing hold of this to read. twenty mins before bed, three mins at the bus stop, thirty mins on the tube. even thirty seconds in the lift.

We invented it, this language where one man is called Iraqi and one man is called Iranian and so they kill each other. Where one man is called an officer so he sends other men, with heads and hearts the size of his own, to split their stomachs open over barbed wire.“ pp125

nothing like actually getting a moment to sit down and read for more than a chapter at a time.
have to admit i totally forgot that people outside of my lecturer can be called orkideh, so reading that name and then her becoming a key part of the story was a wee bit of a shock.
really enjoying so far and liking the addition of poems etc to break up sections
