Oh come on, don't do me that way. Valek hasn't been around most of the book, and now the author is trying to develop a relationship between the FMC and him off page!? "Oh, I've enjoyed all the debates we've had over poisons the past few weeks."

WHAT DEBATES!?! There has been literally NO interaction between these two that wasn't formal. Ugh.

I don't think Yelena is actually poisoned Also, there are some funny lines in this book:

"The combined brainpower of the kitchen staff probably couldn't light a candle."

"Like you could hear me over your specially trained 'woodland-animal' footsteps," Rough Voice countered. "It was like listening to two deer humping each other." lmfao.

"Someone had read my impressions of poisons and other information. The queasy feeling in my gut was replaced by a cold, hard sensation. The mouse had died, reflecting my sour mood perfectly."

Uh, what mouse? Like my last update, it feels like something was edited out, as certain things seem to be inexplicably missing.

Um, what?

"You're like on of the Commander's Terriers. A tiny, yappy dog you wouldn't look at twice, but once it grabs your pant leg, it won't let go."
