...a deranged man that her only exit option was death. That needs to not be the case. I also found it fascinating how it was very subtly implied that the narrator was an atheist (especially contrasted with the wife (who btw was never named (unlike white nights))) and that perhaps his disconnect with God and religion and having a purpose could have been a major factor in why he is the way he is. anyways

Fyodor Dostoevsky I could kiss you on the mouth. I was annoyed at the first half until I realized that was the point and was able to actually enjoy it. The writing was absolutely stunning, every sentence he writes has this ability to pull you in and extract an emotion you weren't even sure existed.
