This has been such an enlightening read. It becomes rather clear that the age in which we find ourselves is far more appropriately deemed "the dark ages" than those of Bede's time, when kings and nations were bending the knee to Christ and peoples were being converted by monks and bishops traveling far and wide. The story of the Aidan of Lindisfarne was really neat.

This is pretty great. Ethelbert of Kent's conversion was cool to read about. What I would give to have been a monk at Bede's time on that beautiful island.
