I think I’m starting to understand the critiques of the book being that it’s premise fits more as a short story but I think there’s a bigger picture being painted here that the author is trying to do of the day to day exhaustion and pressures of motherhood that a short story just wouldn’t be able to do as much (MY OPINION)

There’s some unexpected bars in this book - “She had done the ultimate job of creation, and now she had nothing left. To keep him alive- that was the only artistic gesture she could muster.”

I feel like the sentence structure is making me feel just as exhausted as the mother
