i thought the intro chapter was chapter one LOOOOOL. i like it so far and it parallels well with my sociology of gender class. the part about understanding the role that patriarchy has on love, and the constant praise male authors get for using gendered theory to write about love whilst still being sexist. i have more thoughts but this is it so far🧏🏾♀️

i also wanna say, hook's mentioning that the youth are afraid of finding love because of their fear of vulnerability, disappointment, etc is very accurate (and relatable unfortunately). the contrast between how older generations discuss love versus the newer ones was also interesting. it's true that young people are quick to denounce and downplay the power of love when it doesn't work in their favour.
