Born in the town of Sighet, Transylvania, Elie Wiesel was a teenager when he and his family were taken from their home in Sighet in 1944 to an Auschwitz concentration camp, and then to Buchenwald. He's deeply religious and spends much of his time studying the Torah (the Bible) and the Talmud and praying. His parents and sisters run a shop in the town, and his father is highly respected in the Jewish community

I ran out of characters, and I wanted to add that this book was very boring, but just for YOU, I bit my tongue and read it. It was kind of interesting being able to read and learn his story from his perspective, but I think I'm going to stick to my fiction books. Rather, it be a graphic novel all the way to a romance novel (and I don't like romance novels), I am going to avoid non-fiction like the plague.
