i also saw a review that said, “I honestly question the audience that loves this book. like what does that say about our values and competence these days???” and I came to the realization that I have to get over my obsession and love for urban romance because I would hate to be (respectfully) one of those tiktokers at a grown ass age still reading about men killing and going to prison and finding it lovely & hot

I was going through the reviews and I really liked what someone had to say, they said, “note to self: never read a book because you feel left behind. some hype trains are better missed” and I was so happy because I need to remind myself every single time I’m on tiktok and people are hyping up this author like I don’t understand, she needs to be a director of a tubi show because that’s what her books give

so I went and tried to give this book another chance and I could literally not. I’m punishing myself. I’m putting myself through torture at this point whenever I have to read this author’s books. the only reason why I was even able to get this far was cause I found an audiobook, but it was just more cringy with the audiobook so I paused it and DNF it.

it was nice but too straight up, like this girl was too comfortable with being kidnapped and having to marry her kidnapper and menace… i know he has an obsession with order but “quiet time?” really?
