Despite a new setting, in a new time, on a new continent, with a new cast of characters (save Trull), this is definitely the easiest Malian book to follow thus far. Having a relatively simple conflict, two sides in a war, with a fairly symmetrical cast on either side, has probably gone a long way to make it easy to follow.

Honestly one of the most enjoyable Malian reads so far. Really interesting characters, including one from the last book that didn’t particularly wow me then. While it’s not quite matching the grand scale and epic stakes of MoI, I fondly myself more gripped to the character interactions and am eagerly awaiting the final convergence of this book

Immediately feel a greater sense of what’s actually happening, DESPITE it being a whole new setting and cast. Digging Letheras as a location and really liking Tehol and his brothers in particular!
