now that I’m out of the first chapter, I’m enjoying this a bit more. he’s referencing, he’s sourcing, he’s not just talking out his ass (though there’s plenty of that too).

fucking weird. reads like quack uncle rambling. it’s easier when I think of it as one big opinion piece, as opposed to scholarly work. I’ve read that the author isn’t respected in the academic field and I get why. also, typo on the back cover? was this book even edited?

it makes me wish I was just reading the source material and not his spin on it. so consider it good motivation to read the classics!
