A really good book with an interesting mythology, o k a y characters and romance which uses one of my favorite, favorite tropes: reincarnation. And a pretty open ending. But I still don't feel compelled to pick up book 2, I kind of feel like it has already played all its cards and what could still follow is not really sth I would be interested in. Idk, its just a hunch.
Actual rating: 3.5 stars

Its three at night and I just read 200 pages and half the ammount of chapters this book has in one sitting. Thats the kind of light, readable, addictie stuff YA should be.
Sidenote: I dont care for the characters, Akiva‘s interesting, Karou is the basic Perfect Main Character and Zuzana grinds on my nerves.

”By comaprison, even German and Hebrew sounded melodic.“ I honestly hate this prejudice against German so much daaaaaammmnnnnnnn.

Its been about 5 years since I read this (in German). I still have the overarching story memorized and that I enjoyed it a lot, but I also remember almost skim-reading it because I had the attention span of a squirrel (still have, not when it comes to books tho) and was only reading it for the romance(?)
