God. What is UP with fantasy series being stretched out bone thin with filler just to money grab? First Fourth Wing, then Legendborn, now this??? What are we doing? My kingdom for a taut, all killer, no filler fantasy story!!

Idk why but this is just not hitting for me like the first book. Is it the writing? Is it the lack of stakes? The borderline absurd dialogue? Bummer. I’ll keep going but so far, this is in keeping with the romantasy sequel drop off I’ve been seeing in other similar series that have been published the last year… Lots and lots of filler.
