I don't like the main character. His "humor" (i.e. defense mechanism) is so off putting and nonstop. He'd be unbearable to be around. I keep picturing Chevy Chase as the main character.

Also too many words to get to the point. It doesn't feel literary or artful - more like dictionary vomit.

I will say the black widow spider story was memorable. I'd read that as a short story...
