’m trying to figure out where this town is, it mentioned that the school has 2000 students, so is this town a suburb of Topeka? Otherwise no other school an hour from KCIA airport will have 2000 students

Oof right off the bat I'm not liking this. This is definitely telling instead of showing, long long telling. And holy cow the pace is breakneck. Going from Spinning Silver to this is going to give me whiplash. I really don't read young adult contemporary anymore for a reason, I am not the intended age group for this novel.
