okay this book is actually really clicking in a lot of ways. there's never been a better explanation to me of the wave/particle thing in quantum mechanics than hawking simply saying waves and particles are concepts we created to describe our observations and theres not necessarily a reason to expect them to be mutually exclusive in nature
