Waaaaaah being a man is hard waaaaaaah society revolves around me and rewards my violence waaaaaaah I feel peer pressure to be mean or a *man*, like PLEASE give me a reason to care while women are getting SA'd and threatened and abandoned. I 100% believe the contrast b/w these realities is part of the point Backman is trying to make but I'm really having trouble mustering empathy for these AWFUL men and boys

My man Fredrik loves a description of an event that bleeds into a philosophical observation of human nature that re-grounds itself through a sentence of plot. It's been 62 pages and I think 7 seconds of the actual plot has occurred 😅
