Ohhhhh Wang. You foolish fool. Cool that he fell in love with his land and just needed to be freed of his idleness but it seems that with all the financial commitments he’s made he’s almost as much of a slave as he ever was. I see no happy ending for our guy

He defends his little fool in this chapter and at the end it almost seems like his one true love is the land?
I struggle to understand this character and I wonder about the purpose of humans. His is the good earth?

So sad Wang Lung is considering selling his daughter at the suggestion of O-lan.
So sad he’s considering that the option might only mean starvation back home instead of where they are.
So sad that he’s considering that being sold into slavery may mean a better life for his daughter than what he can offer
