Something that I've been thinking about a lot lately, which this book is confirming, is that being a Bollywood lover is about being a lover and believer in sincerity. You have to be willing to buy in, wholeheartedly, to the romance, drama, emotions, etc. It requires surrendering to the storm and being swept away by the film. The Bollywood films that work, that last, are written with utmost sincerity.

i looove how anupama weaves together the history of india with hindi cinema history. so many gems. from the mixtures of bhavas leading to masala films, to the fixture of music in indian storytelling dating back millenia.
