I literally knew that the lawyer would not let the family know about her coming or that she exists and I think it puts her in a really tough position and it is not fair on her

The moment when Hannah meets Mr. Dayo and refers to him by his first name and she’s not scolded immediately it says two things it shows how detached she is from her culture and how Mr. Dayo does not complain as well because he knows that even though she’s a child of the deceased, she is still not fully part of the culture as opposed to the other children

so she has also just said something that I feel is important which is that she knows and fears that her being in Nigeria would make her feel that her life could be more and she could want more and would be a reminder of the dreams and wishes and hopes she had about being with her father when she was younger
