Umm, how to phrase this? A fae character told the main character he would give her the clicks notes version of an explanation. In a world that has had no contact with earth for a thousand years. And the earth described in the book probably doesn’t have cliffs notes either.

A third of the way through the book, I had to return it to the library, and when I got it back, I had trouble finding my place in the book.
This is not normal for me. Usually, a book is interesting and memorable enough that if I read a page,I know if I read it before.
But the protagonist thinking about an unpleasant man’s attractiveness endlessly gave no cues about whether I read that particular bit before.
