the second one is understandable..but the first is tricky. The way I understood it is that the rich is patient with all the blessings he has through his a3mal; sins can remove that blessing, while good deeds can maintain that blessing. He also mentions that each one (sabr & shukr) requires the other, that you can not have one without the other.
