Went with Hunger Games after all. I remember someone recommending me this novel back in early 2010s, now I see why.
Interestingly, the protagonist is described as having black hair and olive skin and it being typical for 12th district. Like, there's no way black hair would be typical if it wasn't because of ethnicity.
Looks like it got changed her in the movie to US majority because of "muh representation".
